Gavin Fradel is a science consultant in the K-12 Standards, Curriculum and Instruction section in the Office of Academic Standards at the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction. Gavin obtained his Undergraduate teaching degree in Middle Grades Education with a concentration in science from East Carolina University. He taught science for 14 years in Middle Schools in central North Carolina. During this time, he has been recognized as a Young Teacher of the Year for his school and district, coached middle school boys and girls basketball, mentored beginning science teachers, and obtained his Masters Degree in Science Education from East Carolina University. At NCDPI, Gavin has delivered and continues to deliver professional development for teachers, principals and district leaders to increase understanding of the NC Standard Course of Study.
